Re-focusing on Homeschooling

Since today I was a little upset about work (Note to self: I should really just suck it up and learn not to care at all!), I decided to do something more productive and beneficial to my kids, rather than dwelling on the negatives vibes. So, here I am, planning homeschool activities for both kids, but keeping my main focus on Niklas since I feel that I should do more with him now that he is more curious about things and has shown more interests in storybooks.

If you have been a reader of this blog, you will know that I spent a lot of time homeschooling Nikita when she was at his age. Sad to say, I am truly living up to my title as the “lazy SAHM” for the past 2 years. I practically did nothing, other than some ocassional craft projects, with both children. Some days I would rather spend my time playing mindless games on Facebook, watching mindless movie clips on youtube than spending quality time with my family. So I think it’s time for me to acknowledge my personal guilt and to make things right again. (Hmm… sound a little too serious ah? I think so…HAHA!)

Anyway, I hope, with this little post to serve as a reminder for myself, I will be discipline enough to do what I plan to do with my kids. So, if this blog is getting too quiet again, please give me a nudge! ;)

  1. Haha!!! I’m exactly in your shoes! Except I’ve been a lazy SAHM for even longer since I hardly did anything with Sara! Now, three children along, I’m embarrassed to say Nathan knows only a fraction of what Sara knew at the same age. Still, he’s learning really crappy things from his sister like silly rhymes and bad behaviour….

And yes, like you, I spend too much time cooking up a storm virtually. The huz has since asked if I could learn to cook up a storm in real life as well….

And yes, I am determined that it’s time to re-focus on the children and give them more quality time rather than blog surfing and facebooking during my free hours.

  2. What’s wrong with facebooking? LOL.
Jia You to you and Hsin. I’ll just pray for a miracle on my end and hope that my children turn out smart on their end.

  3. Hsin – DH said that the computer is my “new religion” and my daughter came back yesterday and said that she told her teacher that my computer is my “temple”! -_-
Maybe it is time for me to pull the plug like you too.

Irene – Nothing wrong with FBing if you are not obsessed with it. :P
